The Land Baron's Hamlets

As the Land Baron’s Hamlets, you are a landlord and aim to maintain the wealth and social status you’ve enjoyed your whole life (with as little effort as possible). You score points by discarding sets of matching cards. The more cards you accumulate and discard, the more points you score.

Congratulations! You have recently received a large Inheritance and start the game with two extra cards, five extra victory points, and exclusive access to the Means of Production - the deck’s item cards. Unfortunately, no one ever taught you how to craft them. To leverage this advantage, you will need to speculate on which clearings will be most profitable and buy off the land early, forcing the denizens of the Woodland to become your Tenants. Through Rent Collection, you can hoard obscene amounts of wealth in your hand - more than what would usually be considered legal. Luckily, through your family’s political influence, they have set up the Woodland as your Tax Haven, and you do not need to discard down to five cards at the end of your turns.

If this is starting to sound like too much work, don’t worry; the entire State Apparatus is working with your best interests in mind! You can bribe others to get your way, and the police force of the Woodland is on your side. And, if all else fails, you can always seize the land you need by force by taking part in a Land Grab. The odds are stacked in your favour… but will that be enough?
